Koi Water Barn staged their ‘End of Summer Auction’ on 8th September at Coolings Garden Centre.

The auction featured a total of 51 lots, 20 of which were bagged lots containing several smaller Koi, and 31 larger individual Koi.

The auction tool place in Coolings’ large event glass house, situated just across from Koi Water Barn’s retail store on the same site.

From 10am the individual lots were displayed in show pools so prospective bidders could get a good look at them.  The bagged lots were available for prospective bidders to inspect thoroughly as well.

The auction got under way at midday, starting with the bagged lots, which were introduced by auctioneer Keith Holmes and carried through the bidders seated in two rows, very much in line with the style adopted in Japanese auctions.

After a brief refreshment break, Koi Water Barn had laid on a range of complimentary hot and cold drinks and snacks for visitors, the auction continued with the individual lots.

Each individual lot was placed into a bowl and wheeled through the lined bidders for a final look before Keith commenced the bidding.
