The Manor Master fibreglass multi-bay filters, designed and manufactured by Manor Koi in Essex (www.ManorKoi.com), have been installed on literally tens of thousands of ponds the length and breadth of the UK over the past 25 years or so – and continue to service them to this day.
Over the years vortex and brushes have been the standard solids removal method of the Manor Master range – and have served 1000s of customers perfectly well in that time.
Now Manor Koi have joined with the team at DracoDrum to produce a combined Manor Master Multi-bay and DracoDrum Combi Filter which was given its first public outing at the recent Crouch Valley Koi Show – 2019 Crouch Valley Koi Show Report.
The unit on show combined the Manor Master 2000 4 bay unit with a customised DracoDrum Origin 16 slotted into the first bay, leaving 3 bays for bio filtration – the demo unit utilising 2 Japanese matting cartridges and a section of fluidised K1 media.

The DracoDrum Origin 16 is rated for a maximum flow rate of 3700 UK gallons / 16800 litres per hour and when combined with the Manor Master 2000 has a footprint of just 1280mm long and 610mm wide, making a very compact unit with an excellent biological capacity.
Features of the DracoDrum include:
- The remotely sited controller has start / emergency stop buttons and a knob allowing you to change the length of wash.
- Low voltage, sealed water valves and drive units utilising an extremely low geared direct drive system mean that only 12 volts is anywhere near your pond water.
- Designed to run without a noisy and power hungry wash pump in most circumstances (they are available if required). On standby the unit can use less than 12 watts and in full wash mode, use 35 watts. It is entirely possible to run it off a car battery for prolonged periods of time.
- 58 micron stainless steel screen.
The Manor Master 2000 features fully benched drain points in each chamber, inlets, outlets and waste valves.
Martin Green of Manor Koi stated, ‘After a lot of hard work from Tony and his team we have the first working prototype. We will be setting this up on its own stand alone pond and putting it through its paces over the next few weeks/months if it does what we hope production will follow and we will be happy to supply other dealers if there is interest. Keep a look out for more updates!!’
