On 16th March 2019, the new Koi Water Barn premises will officially open at their new home in Coolings Garden Centre, Knockholt, Kent.
It will be exactly 16 weeks since Tony Pitham and his team, under the guidance of manager Keith Holmes, obtained access to what was an empty shell of a building.
When we visited mid January the transformation was impressive and well progressed – http://nishikigoi.life/2019/01/17/visit-to-koi-water-barns-under-construction-premises-at-coolings-garden-centre/. The interim 6 or 7 weeks have seen the retail area ponds completed, operational, and fully stocked, whilst in addition construction of an extensive quarantine centre in a remote greenhouse elsewhere on the site is underway.
Three VIP guests will be flying in from Japan especially to attend the opening weekend, Kentaro Sakai (CEO of Sakai Fish Farm), Daisuke Maeda (President of Okayama Momotaro Koi Farm) and Takaharu Yoshimura (Beppu Fish Farm).
The official ribbon cutting to open the doors of the ‘New Barn’ is scheduled for 10am on 16th, however visitors are encouraged to get there early. Coolings Garden Centre itself opens at 9am, and if the weather is good can get extremely busy with only 350 parking spaces available.
Kentaro, Daisuke and Takaharu will be available all day to assist you with purchase of Koi produced on their respective farms, some of which have been sent over especially for the opening event.
