Late this afternoon at the 2019 All Japan Koi Show, with benching due to begin at 9am tomorrow, the first indication of what Koi had been entered and would be placed in each pool became apparent as the sheet with the entries was stuck to the relevant pool.

A total of 1996 Koi have been entered into the show, the highest number in the ‘my pool’ era which began in 2005.

Of these 25 of the Koi have been entered into the 90bu size Kohaku, Sanke and Showa classes, those from which the Grand Champion is invariably likely to come.  These Koi are effectively over 85cm in size, some over 1m in length.
