On Sunday I made another visit to Adam and Amanda Byer, now officially ‘Byer Koi Farm’.
I’ve been visiting Adam and Amanda for a couple of years now, generally once or twice a year, the dream of back garden breeding is one I hold dear. You can see read about previous visits here – http://nishikigoi.life/2016/12/17/selection-4-month-old-kohaku-adam-byer/ – and an interview I did with Adam here – http://nishikigoi.life/2016/12/07/back-garden-breeding-interview-adam-byer/.
The scale of Adam and Amanda’s operation is increasing rapidly, no longer is Adam a hobbyist breeding Koi, he’s now a Koi breeder, albeit part time.
In the video of my visit below we firstly take a look at offsetting of a new Showa breeding that has been undertaken, a departure from Kohaku which has been the staple for Adam and Amanda for a couple of years.
Thereafter we take a look at some fry in the outdoor ponds as advantage is taken of the warm temperatures that persist, and talk about the recently built, and under construction ponds.
