There has been lots going on at Purdin Koi Farm since my return on 23rd May.
First off there was the ‘short’ trip up to the Greater Louisville Koi and Goldfish Show.
The show had a really good atmosphere with hobbyists travelling from all over the USA to visit. Our journey of around 11 hours was very typical of the sort of journey made by many.
On return to the farm, since Tuesday the focus has been on selection of fry from this years spawning.
I covered the main 2 spawning nights here – http://nishikigoi.life/2018/04/22/purdin-koi-farm-a-new-season-about-to-begin/ and here – http://nishikigoi.life/2018/05/07/purdin-koi-farm-second-round-of-spawning/.
A final night of spawning saw another set of Kohaku and a set of Showa spawned.

In addition to that there was a previously unposted spawning that took place back on the 10th April. You can learn all about that, and this years ‘bonus babies’ on the video below.
As it stands there are now 9 sets of fry successfully hatched and released and growing in the mud ponds, indeed the ones from the 10th April, offspring of the ‘Yamaguchi’ parent, are now being brought inside, and you can see them on the video below as well, along with selection of offspring from the Ueno Showa and Grace Jr. Kohaku.
