Well my bags are packed and all things being equal this time tomorrow my plane will have departed Paris Charles de Gaule airport on route for Tokyo Narita.
Ten years ago (2007) I was in Japan for my first harvest season in Niigata, in at the deep end, on my own, it was the start of what’s been an epic adventure, the excitement of which still continues.
Rather than heading straight up to Niigata, as would normally be the case, the first night will be spent in Narita town, just a few miles from the airport and likewise just a few miles from Tani Fish Farm. It just so happens that my arrival coincides with an event at the farm which includes the judging of an Isa Showa grow out contest which caught my interest when launched back in April. You can read more about it here – http://nishikigoi.life/2017/10/02/tani-fish-farm-3rd-isa-showa-breeding-contest-judgement-day-7th-october/.
On conclusion of the event on Saturday I will head up to Ojiya where, on Sunday and Monday, Dainichi will be holding their 19th auction – http://nishikigoi.life/2017/09/28/19th-dainichi-auction-8th-9th-october/, a great chance to catch up with many dealers, breeders and friends, as well as a number of Nishikigoi.Life advertisers who will have been in Japan for a week or so attending various events.
Whilst mentioning advertisers, I must give a big shout out to all of the companies that advertise on Nishikigoi.Life, amongst them some of the biggest industry players around the globe. Throughout the period of my stay there will be many Koi that appear on here from breeders harvests, please don’t ask me the price, I simply won’t know, however our advertisers will invariably be able to assist you, please contact them, and tell them where you saw the Koi you’re interested in.
The rest of my schedule is at present very flexible, and once I’m in Japan it will come together, as always. For sure it will include some great harvests and great Koi.
