When I went to bed last night I had a hunch that today’s dawn might be a little bit special, a damp day followed by a chilly clear sky night invariably means a misty morning around the mountains.

My alarm was set for 5am and even though the sun hadn’t yet risen, the view from my window told me it looked promising.

Quickly washed and dressed I headed out, knowing that the really special moments can be gone so quickly on mornings like this.

The hardest thing to decide is where to choose to go and take pictures, and I was faced with complete indecision, resulting in the most round about drive to the spot I chose.

I parked in the large parking bay in the top left of the Google Earth image below.

I set my drone in flight and quite frankly, the images that it enabled me to capture are the most stunning I have ever been able to capture.  Exactly the reason I wanted a drone, although, as my good friend Chris Edwards stated when I met him later in the day, ‘Don’t you wish you were flying a dSLR up there!’  For sure I do.
