In this 3rd and final part of the ‘Niigata Seasons’ series the viewer is immersed in the harvest season, perhaps the busiest, and most exciting of all. During the month of October, and through into November, literally thousands of Koi are harvested from the mudponds which have been their summer home.
Autumn is also a time when many visitors flock to the mountains to take part in the harvest season, as well as to purchase newly harvested stocks, either directly from the breeders or via the Niigata Breeders’ Auction which takes place every November.
In this 6th installment of Niigata Seasons Autumn we join Marudo Koi Farm on a wet and rainy day to harvest their number 1 mud pond, as well as take a look at benching day of the Niigata Nogyosai, the premier autumn show held every year in Niigata.
