In this 3rd and final part of the ‘Niigata Seasons’ series the viewer is immersed in the harvest season, perhaps the busiest, and most exciting of all. During the month of October, and through into November, literally thousands of Koi are harvested from the mudponds which have been their summer home.

Autumn is also a time when many visitors flock to the mountains to take part in the harvest season, as well as to purchase newly harvested stocks, either directly from the breeders or via the Niigata Breeders’ Auction which takes place every November.

In this fourth part of the serialisation we start with the harvest of Shintaro Koi Farm’s number 1 mudpond; dubbed ‘the gaigin harvest’, given the number of foreign visitors both in attendance and more so helping. Following that it is the harvest of Torazo’s jumbo Koi.
