This weekend has seen the staging of the 9th Asia Cup in Marina Sands Bay Singapore.
Grand Champion was taken by this 90cm, 6 year old Sanke, bred by Sakai Fish Farm.
It’s not the first time the Koi has appeared here on Nishikigoi.Life, indeed the Sanke was one of the 20+ 90bu Gosanke entered at the 2016 All Japan Koi Show – http://nishikigoi.life/2016/01/28/photos-of-20-of-the-90bu-female-gosanke-entered-in-2016-ajks/.
At the 2016 All Japan Koi Show the Koi was awarded a second place in 90bu Sanke class. Since then the Koi has been cared for at Sakai Fish Farm before being flown in to compete at the Asia Cup in Singapore.
From the show the Koi will travel across the border from Singapore into Malaysia, and to the home of Dato Lee where she will enjoy a pond certainly fitting for a Champion.
I was fortunate to be invited to visit Dato Lee and his family back in January 2011, prior to that we had met on several occasions in Japan.

At the time of my visit the pond was just about completed, in fact the pumps had just been turned on a week or so before, although the pond remained empty of Koi.
Sadly I haven’t been back to Malaysia since, however, this weekend again Dato Lee has re-affirmed his invite to visit his home and see his pond again whenever I can. A visit to Malaysia to see this stunning pond and garden, now complete with champion Koi, is certainly on the cards soon.
I should also mention Aaron Goh of AKA Koi Centre as well, who is the handler of the Sanke. I met Aaron on my first visit to Malaysia back in 2009, and have met him many times in Japan, and he has helped me enormously on previous visits to Malaysia.
