In April 2014 this 36cm jumbo tosai, bred by Sakai Fish Farm, was offered for sale as part of a shop event at Narita Koi Farm (http://www.narita-koi.com/english).
On 25th March 2016 the same Kohaku, now sansai and 63cm in length, became the next of Narita and Sakai’s Grand Champions when it took the Grand Champion prize at the 2016 All Japan Wakagoi Show.

At that event back in 2014 anyone could have purchased that Koi, and whilst I don’t know the price paid, I am sure it was far less than some of the prices we see banded around after the big auctions.
