Back in October 2007, on a daily basis, I would drive Route 551 from Izumiya Koi Farm to Mushigame, taking with me my breakfast purchased from 7-11.

The spot where I stopped to eat my breakfast, offering wonderful views across Yamakoshi and beyond, was christened by myself as ‘the breakfast spot’, a name which seems to have become universally known.

Back in 2008 I made inquiries about the logistics of installing some webcams across Yamakoshi so people could see the mountains ‘live’ throughout the year.  Sadly they were never to be.

In 2014 Yamakoshi was blessed with the installation of new high speed internet, something which enabled the free wi-fi hotspots to become a possibility – http://nishikigoi.life/2015/09/09/new-yamakoshi-wi-fi-hotpsots/.

When I arrived in Yamakoshi in October this year there were some workers from a telecoms company doing some work at the breakfast spot.  Initial inquiries drew a blank, my hope was that they were installing a wi-fi hotspot up there.

It transpired what they were doing was in fact installing a webcam to beam the ‘breakfast spot’ view around the world.
